Wladimir Klitschko responds to speculation he will come out of retirement in April. Wladimir Klitschko has rubbished speculation he will come out of retirement to fight in the UK in April.
The Ukrainian called time on his legendary boxing career after being knocked out by Anthony Joshua in the 11th round of their barnstorming heavyweight title clash at Wembley in 2017.
He has been linked with a return to the ring at the same venue with a potential rematch against Anthony Joshua reportedly in the offing.
A possible clash against Dillian Whyte was also mooted, but Klitschko has now put the rumours to bed once and for all.
He tweeted: "I’m all about challenges in life and I do really feel that I still got it. Recently many of you contacted me willing to see me making a comeback to the ring this April and I’m thankful to y’all for that.
"However, I need to call such speculation an early April Fool’s Day joke."
Klitscho, 42, retired with a 64-5 professional record and unified the heavyweight division as well as winning a gold medal at the 1996 Olympics.
But his career ended in frustration with back-to-back defeats against Tyson Fury and Joshua.
