Dogme in ELT started over a decade ago as a niche movement. It has since become the subject of many conference workshops and has found its way into the ELT classroom for various reasons: experimental practice, professional curiosity, and frustration with published materials.

It is often viewed as a black and white choice: your teaching is either unplugged or it isn't. This webinar will argue that Dogme in ELT is not as simple as that: it has been born out of a widespread change in the industry and over the last decade it has become ubiquitous in almost every classroom in one form or another, even when we don´t realise it. Is Teaching Becoming Evermore Unplugged will look at the presence of dogmatic features in Lesson and Course Planning, Methodology and Pedagogy, and In-Class Techniques and will consider our own dogmatic tendencies and suggest new ways we can further embrace the unplugged.
