Man Utd eye Kostas Manolas and 'plan to trigger Roma star's £32m buyout clause'. Manchester United are lining up a move for Kostas Manolas with the Roma star's buyout clause attractive to the Red Devils.
The Greek centre-back is available for just £32 million and could bolster their backline and provide competition for Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly.
The Italian side will look to resist selling in January, with United not able to trigger the clause until the summer when it becomes an option.
Roma are making moves to line up a replacement though, with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming Joachim Andersen from Sampdoria could be Manolas' replacement if he moves to Old Trafford this summer.
"It’s only natural you want to play for the biggest clubs," Manolas told Sport last summer. "Like Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
"I think I could make the difference anywhere I went, even at Barcelona – although I have never spoken to them."
United were linked with Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire last summer, but failed to land either, infuriating Jose Mourinho, who bemoaned a lack of additions until his eventual sacking last month.
Under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United have won five on the spin, sparking life into their hopes of a top four finish.
A warm weather mini-camp in Dubai this week precedes a crunch clash with Tottenham this weekend.
